Śiva Stories


Palm leaf book with two wooden covers.
The text is Hālāsyamāhātmya that consists of stories about the Indian god Śiva. It is written in Sanskrit in Telugu script and engraved on palm leaves, which were the common writing material in southern India. The covers are lacquered, on the outside with floral patterns, and on the inside with different persons mentioned in the stories.
