32. The Marsk Stig Overture. Peter Heise. 1856.
The composer Peter Heise (1830-1879) originally wrote his Marsk Stig Overture for a tragedy by Carsten Hauch; it was since used at the first performance of Heise's best known work, the opera Drot og Marsk.
The Royal Library has an extensive collection of Heise's personal manuscripts, which unfortunately were written at a time when the paper was very acidiferous. Some of the manuscripts are so damaged that they are about to crumble. This also applies to the Marsk Stig Overture
