16. Kitâb al-Istikmâl. Arabian mathematical text. Written down before 1700s
Kitâb al-Istikmâl is a mathematical text dealing with arithmetic, geometry and stereometry. It was written originally by al-Mu'tamad Ibn Hüd, who was king of Zaragoza, and illustrated with constructional drawings. The text is incomplete, but even so it represents the most important existing fragment of this work in the world.
The manuscript came to The Royal Library in 1786 as one out of 76 oriental manuscripts from count Otto Thott's book collection.
