In the years 1962-1965 Oluf Høst (1884-1966), a Danish painter from the island of Bornholm, wrote a number of letters to the publisher Hans Reitzel, who was engaged in publishing Høst’s diaries, Kjölvann, en sjöforklaring (Wake, a Captain’s Protest/a Prevarication) (Cph. 1964). Many of the letters are illustrated with small drawings.
