This Danish herbarium contains 91 water-colours of plants. The exquisite botanical manuscript was prepared by Christoffer Heerfort (1609-1679), pharmacist in Nykøbing Falster, and dedicated to Frederik III and Queen Sophie Amalie. Previously Heerfort had been Court pharmacist to the Prince Elect Christian (who died in 1647, one year before his father King Christian IV). The water-colours are done by Bartholomæus Spitzmacher, also from Nykøbing Falster.
Together with this botanical manuscript Heerfort presented the King with the real herbarium from which Spitzmacher had made his water-colours. Today it is in Botanisk Museum.
In the back of the book are, first, 43 drawings, of which 38 are by Vincent Laurenszoon van der Vinne (1686-1742), second, one drawing by Jan van Huysum (1682-1749).
The binding is 18th century Danish.

43 x 29.5 cm.
