Genesis 29:20-32 (vol. 1)

This book contains the Biblical text in an ordinary square typeface, a commentary by Rashi (Rabbi Solomon ben Isaac, Troyes, France, 1040-1105), and a paraphrase in Yiddish. The commentary by Rashi is almost always printed alongside the Biblical text in a traditional Jewish edition of the Pentateuch, and it is printed with the so-called “Rashi typeface”. The Yiddish paraphrase, primarily aimed at women, is printed with the typeface traditionally used for Yiddish, the so-called vaybertaytsh (i.e. “women’s German” – normally women did not learn Hebrew).

18 x 12 cm.
