This is an extensive and richly illustrated description of Africa – of nature as well as of human customs, religion, language, etc. The author Olfert Dapper (1636-1689) never travelled in Africa but collected material from other people’s accounts. Later he published similar extensive descriptions of China, Persia, Georgia (in the Caucasus), etc.
