Emil Aarestrup’s draft, dated 28 May 1835, of one of his most well-known love poems Der er en Trolddom paa din Læbe. The first stanza reads:

Der er en Trolddom paa din Læbe
Der er en Afgrund i dit Blik
Der er i Lyden af din Stemme
En Drøms ætheriske Musik

(There is a spell on your lips
There is an abyss in your eyes
There is in the sound of your voice
The etherial music of a dream)

A revised edition of the poem, called Til en veninde (To a girlfriend), figures in the only collection of poems that Aarestrup (1800-1856) had published during his lifetime, Digte (Poems) from 1838.
