After graduating from the Faculty of Theology Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) embarked on his first long journey to Jutland in July-August 1840. He used this small notebook before and after his journey, and some of the considerations found here refer to travelling, i.e. this outburst: “Det er denne Overfladiskhed der er saa karakteristisk for Reiser, derfor pleier man ogsaa at sige om Postillonen naar han blæser, at han blæser Fidtet af Suppen” (This shallowness characterizes travels, that is why they say of the mail-coach driver when he blows his horn that he blows the fat off the soup).

8.3 x 12.5 cm.
