Celestial globe made in 1758 by the German geographer Thomas Spleiss (1705-1775).
The globe was purchased by J.C. Classen (1725-1792), collector of books and landowner. His large collection of scientific and geographical books was made accessible to the public after his death, and in 1867 it was divided between the University Library and the Library of the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University.
The globe is 99 cm in diameter.
