Theatre manager and director Albert Helsengreen’s copy of the printed edition of the Norwegian writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s (1832-1910) play in 2 acts Over Evne (Beyond Our Power). In the book Helsengreen has pasted his own drawings of stage designs and written numerous additions and stage directions that illustrate his production in every detail. The notes are interesting because they, according to Helsengreen, are based on productions in Berlin 1901 and Kristiania (Oslo) as well as Folketeatret’s (the People’s Theatre) first Danish performance 25 March 1899. Later Helsengreen’s Theatre toured Denmark with Over Evne.

17.5 x 11.2 cm.
