Menologion is the Greek word for a liturgical book containing texts on saints arranged according to their feast days month by month. This manuscript contains texts for November, i.a. on St. Clement who was celebrated on the 24th of November in the Eastern Church (on the 23rd of November in the West). Clement was martyred about 100 A.D. when he was thrown into the sea with an iron anchor around his neck. The manuscript was brought to Denmark by Frederik Rostgaard (1671-1745), collector of books and state archivist, who had bought it in Venice in 1699.
