Binding Text example The litany with the names of the three saints
Lucius, Knud, and Olav (at the bottom of the
2nd column on the left page)

This manuscript contains the Book of Psalms, a number of other biblical hymns, and a litany. The small format of the book made it easy to carry around in a pocket, and it was clearly made for private use. Three names of saints which figure in the litany – Lucius, Knud (Kanutus), and Olav – show that the manuscript belonged to a Dane, probably from Roskilde where Lucius was the patron saint.
The small psalter is the most recent acquisition of a mediaeval manuscript made by the Royal Library. It came to the library in 2002 due to a donation from the Carlsberg Foundation.

c. 10 x 7 cm.
