Book jacket of the Japanese novel Koibeni (Crimson Love) by the female author Hiroko Minagawa (b. 1930). It is modernist in style, partly decorated with stylized characters. Simple lines and significant colours indicate the contents of the book: a woman growing up in a geisha house in the pleasure district of Yoshiwara during the Tokugawa period (1603-1868).
