Vellum designed by the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) and bound by the bookbinder’s shop Ahrenkiel & Olsen. The motif is partly calligraphic. Around the globe names of the birds that are themes in Blicher’s collection of poems “Naturconcert” are seen. At the bottom of the front cover the beginning of the first poem of the collection Præludium (Prelude) is placed, containing the famous initial words: “Sig nærmer Tiden, da jeg maa væk!” (The time is drawing near when I must leave!).
