The Rhymed Chronicle was the first book to be printed in Danish. It contains a collection of poems about the Danish kings – put into the mouths of the kings themselves – from the oldest legendary King Dan to Christian I. The printer Gotfred of Ghemen was Dutch. He was the first printer to settle in Copenhagen. The first book out of his printing office was a Latin grammar printed in 1489.
