Denmark’s
systematic mapping from 1750
|
In 1585, Tycho Brahe produced – of Ven – the first scientifically worked map based on triangulation, but he never got any further. The actual systematic large-scale mapping of Denmark based on triangulation did not begin until 200 years later. In 1762, systematic measurement began with the cartography by Videnskabernes Selskab (Asssociation of the Sciences).Almost a century passed before this survey was completed and the first officially stamped correct map of Denmark could be printed in 1841.
